Skill for A Vibrant Economy Project is a national five-year project funded by the world bank. The Lilongwe university of Agriculture and Natural Resource (LUANAR) and other public institutions of higher learning and technical and vocational colleges are the implementing partners in SAVE project. At LUANAR, the project is being implemented by LUANAR’s two campuses of Bunda and NRC, through the Programmes Coordinating Office (PCO). SAVE project aims at increasing access particularly for females to labour market relevant skills development programs, in participating institutions, targeting priority areas of the economy. Some of the key aspects supported are; Agribusiness incubates program, staff capacity building, curriculum upgrade, promotion of E-based Extension service Delivery and experiential learning, promotion of youth access to ICT services and ODeL, development of short courses and bachelor’s programs, mentoring and bridging programs, rehabilitation of selected facilities at both NRC and Bunda, construction of fashion and design learning complex, construction of food processing plant, construction of greenhouse, bursaries to undergraduate female and vulnerable students, student’s industrial attachments and graduate tracer studies.
